But hey, I'm still alive!

Yesterday, I did something stupid, or at least ill-advised.  I picked up a hitchhiker.

Poor guy needed a ride from Graceland to the 5th Avenue Kroger.  He was well-dressed and a little shorter than me.  I figured I could take 'im.

We spent the 20-minute ride talking about his son (nice kid), his ex-wife (they get along for the sake of the kid), Jesus (he believes, I'm neutral), and moving down South (because you know where you stand with the white folks).

I used to pick up hitchhikers quite a bit when I first started driving.  Yeah, yeah, I know.  But the world is so much safer now (think about 1995 vs. 2005 - see what I mean?) and how many times does a nicely-dressed person ask for a ride?  And how often are they not Ted Bundy?  See what I mean?
