quidditchgrrl: (Pictures of You)
I have more wedding photos up!

I promise to actually say something of interest here soon.  ;)

Oh, and my friend's baby puked down my shirt today.  Yum.  :-&
quidditchgrrl: (Pictures of You)
I'm alive.  I'm married.  I'm not on my honeymoon.

Never in my life have I been so grateful for my friends and family.  It's so true that the best test of your self is found in the friends you have.  I'd never have made it through without them.  *smooches*

Now, the good )

the bad )

And alright, the very, very ugly )

All in all, though, it was a raging success.  I only have one picture online so far, but I will of course post them when I have more to show!
quidditchgrrl: (Daria)
I'm sitting here printing off programs for my wedding Saturday, and thinking about the passage of Issue 1 here in Ohio.

And I'm watching Notorious C.H.O., firmly ignoring the news channels.

Needless to say, I'm feeling very sad and torn tonight.  If what you all say is true, I can expect my standard of living to deteriorate even further over the next four years.  Friggin' A.

Thank goodness for chat tonight, it's cheering me up immensely.  Yay fandom!  Go provisional voters!

quidditchgrrl: (Adrien's Day by crazymo14588)
Let's see...it's 3:30 in the morning and I'm still awake.  I have to be up by 7:30 for a CT scan.  Oh, tomorrow is going to be a joyous day.  -.-

I got nothing done last week for the wedding, so I've got to make up for it while trying to act as if I'm doing my job at work until Tuesday evening, when I can forget work for two weeks!  :D

Hopefully my stomach will forget its troubles too and leave me in peace until I get back from my honeymoon.  So long as I'm not eating, I'm good.  We'll see if that pattern holds with the Slim-Fast I'm using as nutrition.  I did have a gyro and some french fries at lunch and kept them down, which is progress.

I am so sick of election coverage.  Moveon PAC people were by here tonight, asking us to check in with them at our polling place.  Doubt I'll do that though.  All they have to do is look at the registration polls and they'll know I voted.  Geez.  Just let it be over soon.

Oh, in case you're interested, what's going on our wedding CD )

quidditchgrrl: (JRM Sexy by crazymo14588)
Update:  I am not dying although my stomach is making it plain it is suicidal.  CT scheduled for Monday.  Until then, I get to drink lots of eversoyummy Ensure.  Barghiharrf.

I'm burning a CD for our wedding with a variety of "our" songs on it.  If you'd like one, leave your address in the comments area (all replies are screened) and I'll send you one mid-November.  There'll be lots of good tunes on it, from Tracy Byrd to the Cure.

Not now!

Disclaimer:  This is a woe-is-me post.  Read at your own discretion.

But first, a fic rec!  It's Remus/Hermione, by [livejournal.com profile] casirafics.  It's R rated, and I am *still* a little weepy over it.  Certainly one of the best shorts I've ever read.

In the Turning

Now for the 'why me' part of the post; or, I'm really scared right now )

Also, in the interest of being totally manic in my panic (rhymes!), I have a couple of new icons for the election.  They're nice and vanilla, but anti-antiChrist, of course.  No, I'm not voting for Nader, why do you ask?

Ahahahahaha, I need to take a pain pill and try to sleep.  Yes.

I have been so busy and on the run that I've clean run out of steam to do much of anything aside from breathe.  But, it's been an eventful weekend.

Those of you who are introverts understand the kind of tired I'm talking about.  All that social interaction and concentration.  At this point, even reading my flist seems like too much of an energy-draining exercise.

But yeah, I went to a kickin' Halloween party! )

Right now, I'm trying to pick out ceremony music.  Good stuff.

Oh, and I did manage to get to my high school reunion )

Oh, and wedding update. )

Hugs and good vibes going to [livejournal.com profile] nsmom - I'm sorry you're so down.  :(  I wish I was in Philly to give you the grandest of hugs.
quidditchgrrl: (Groovy Dumbledore by chibi_rei)
Well, hello all.  I'm back from menstrual hell the edge of insanity.  Funny how a last-minute infusion of cash can brighten your mood (we won't talk about the busted kneecaps).

Anyhoo, that's how the wedding plans are going, just spiffy!

Tried to sell my clothes yesterday with no luck.  Am going to pawn my beloved French Horn next week.  :-(

Things that have made me happy recently:

This post, which [livejournal.com profile] thetreacletart linked to today.  I know I'll be channeling Bloody Bill in three weeks' time.

Jon Scieszka's (try spelling that name without a search engine handy!) new book:

Mary had a little worm,
She thought it was a chigger,
But everytime she ate something,
It kept getting bigger.

[livejournal.com profile] chickadilly finally getting some resolution on her course!  Yay Lea!  :D

My friend Kim called from Daytona and she's perfectly fine and COMING TO BE IN MY WEDDING!  Yaaaaay!  *waves hands like Kermit the Frog*

All of you!
quidditchgrrl: (The Jake)
I'm trying to come up with some song suggestions for my wedding reception, and I'm kind of stumped.  I like all sorts of music, but I'm not sure that my guests will all appreciate my personal preferences for either fast or slow dancing.  I love alternative 80s new wave/dance and old school rap, and 70s ballads for the slow stuff.

So, what is 'your song'?  A song that will get you on the dance floor, either to shake your ass or to curl up with your sweetie.  Something that gives you good vibes, or reminds you of good times.

Thanks, y'all.

Yes, I need cheese for my whine.  Cut to spare eyerolling. )
quidditchgrrl: (Me!)
Flippin' computer crashed again, but Honeybunch managed to bring it back from the dead (live, damn you!)  Am well behind on LJ, please excuse the late comments.

And oh dear, saw this on [livejournal.com profile] gaystr8alliance, must post (under cut)

Bush-lovers no-clickey here! )

Happy RL goings on )

No Percy in GoF movie?!  Ooookay.

[livejournal.com profile] queenkatiett, take a look here.  We've got another opening coming up, as referenced above.

Rec:  [livejournal.com profile] inell has been posting up some good fic at [livejournal.com profile] erotic_elves.  Mmm, fetishes.  ;9

Has anyone heard from [livejournal.com profile] siriologist?

I should never have volunteered to help out with the 10 year reunion coming up.  As if I didn't have enough on my plate.  *headdesk*  Didn't they know it was a rhetorical question?!  Le sigh.  That's what I get for opening my damn mouth, eh?

Ooh, if you haven't seen this, take a look!  It actually made me tear up a little.  I love that song.

Good night, y'all.
quidditchgrrl: (Default)
Honeybunch and I are discussing songs for our wedding dance.  I think we've narrowed it down to two. I'm too lazy to do a poll, so comment and tell me which one you prefer:

All I Want Is You by U2 )

In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel )
quidditchgrrl: (Kitty Bad Day)
The last couple of days could have been worse.  I could live along the gulf coast.  *huggles [livejournal.com profile] andarta_w and everyone else affected by Hurricane Ivan*

But damn, I must have done something really terrible, 'cause my karma has been in the toilet.

Wedding and RL bitching, or, karma is a bitch sometimes, or, damn, the moon isn't even full )

But [livejournal.com profile] lissinthecity sent me an e-card, which perked me up considerably!  >:D<

Need to catch up with the flist - hope all of you are doing well, especially those of you who've been battered by bad weather.  *loffs you all*

ETA: skip=230. Bah you all are a verbose lot. :D
quidditchgrrl: (Heaven Knows by fritters)
First off, yet more congratulations for [livejournal.com profile] heidi8, [livejournal.com profile] msscribe and [livejournal.com profile] zsazsa101!

Well, that's three, so the rest of us can breathe easy.  :>

Second, I really want to go out to Pittsburgh and see [livejournal.com profile] nsmom, but I have to work.  :(

Third, wedding planning is moving along at a fast pace.  Invitations have been sent out and I'm trying to be sure all is set up.  I really need a wedding consultant to pull this off...someone who can make sure things go off the way I want them to.

A clone of myself would be very, very helpful.

Have been in trouble all this week at work, for nothing in particular and everything in general.  I'm too terse, I guess.  I send too many emails and don't hold hands and sing kumbaya.  I'm pretty darned salty about that, mostly because I've not been given any examples of said behavior so I'm not altogether sure what they're referring to.

And finally, I'm broke.  My icon has never been so appropriate!  *headdesk*
quidditchgrrl: (Have some chocolate by grayswandir)
Boy, I hope enough time has passed so that my entries aren't piggybacked one on top of the other....sheesh.

You know you are a child of the 80s when... )

Let's see, content, content...

Ah, wedding update! Invitations ordered, officiant confirmed, Dad placated on costs (though I haven't mentioned the DJ to him yet). Still have not been able to contact the person I want to have cook/serve the meal. >:O <-- Bridezilla face

I think we can do this for less than $2000 including the major honeymoon costs. Phew.
quidditchgrrl: (The Jake)
Okay, I finally broke down and saw Fahrenheit 9/11 today.

Major Spoilery Stuff Under the Cut )

In other news, am down to 200#. Before you congratulate me, this is muscle loss, not good weight loss. ): Did do some verboten weight lifting today, nothing heavy, just enough to counteract that flabby feeling. Still can't do ab stuff, so I'm getting a bit pudgy at the middle (even tho the pudge is smaller).

Must kick wedding plans into high gear tomorrow, which means I have to give in and take a pain pill to get some sleep tonight. Am debating on seeing Napoleon Dynamite tomorrow, if I have the time, which I may if I get to sleep soon and not loll about in bed hoping for more than an hour of sleep. Or maybe I'll see Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Movies do help kill time.
quidditchgrrl: (minttea - bother)
Whinging, cut to prevent spoilage )

Today was actually pretty productive, though. Went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes (but having to hold my stomach while doing it was a little embarrassing) and have made progress on the wedding front. I should hear back from the officiant by tomorrow, and have my deejay quotes in by mid-week. Go me!

Oh, get this. My sister talked to my aunt (I come from a long line of white-trash nutjobs, fyi) on the phone. My aunt has declared that my tumor was the remnants of my twin! Twins run on the maternal side of my family, but, um, no. No, not my twin. Just some cells. My aunt is not to be put down though, and I have a feeling that I'll be spending an hour on the phone with her and her nutjob theory. *sigh* I so do not have the energy for that.

I totally missed the DNC coverage tonight. Caught some Larry King Live and watched Mo Rocca give his report. I <3 dorks.

Oh, oh, oh - anyone reading a Unitarian Universalist? I went to the official site and didn't get a good sense of what the group was really about. What I saw, I liked, but what are the services like, for example? Just wondering.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and take a darvocet to try to get some sleep.

'Night all.
quidditchgrrl: (mermaidkween - corn of love)
What I've been doing on my fandom vacation )

I thought about doing the fandom friends thing for the month, but I didn't want to offend anyone if they were left out. I also realized that I don't know a whole lot about some of the people on my flist.

Tell me about you. Where are you all from? Some of you don't list your geographic location in your info. Why are you in fandom? Why did you decide to friend me (or not friend me, if you're randomly reading this)? I'd love to know, to have a more personal feel for you as people/fandomers.

Ah, finally tired. Drop me a line, you all!
quidditchgrrl: (Snape? Trent!)
Since spinning class has started, I can start keeping score... )

Random thoughts:

I am the only female in the US who doesn't like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Gay stereotypes annoy me.

Clay Aiken is a freaky looking guy. Ew, freaky. He needs to make country records so they'll quit playing him on MTV Hits.

Liam Lynch is a god. "Still Wasted From the Party Last Night" - OMGFUNNIESTSONGEVAR.

I've been woken in the middle of the night twice this week with a serious Draco/Hermione plot bunny. IT WON'T LEAVE ME BE, probably won't until I've written it. *wails at the zillions of WiPs waiting for attention* The next chapter of my George/Hermione is 60% done, and I'll be plugging away on that as well, so will not be around so much. Will try to read LJ couple times a week though. Am very reachable through email.

ETA: Darn you, [livejournal.com profile] fearthainn for posting the last chapter of Dark Directed! Now I have to read it before I go to bed. I am going to be a tired (but happy) chica tomorrow. :P
quidditchgrrl: (Ride it)
Mike Vrabel is married (or, if he is not married, he has offspring). WAH. WOE.

[livejournal.com profile] mindyfromohio and I are quite upset by this news.

And damn it, he's even more gorgeous now than back in his OSU days. Although I still blame him for my lack of nap time in Econ 200 nonetheless.

And I missed Justin and Janet! WOE IS ALL AROUND. I was napping. >.<

I picked up my dress today. It's this one. You all be sure to keep October 23 in mind...
quidditchgrrl: (Bernie)
Woo, Christmas baking out of the way. Made an obscene amount of fudge which I am not going to eat quit calling to me I'll take over to my sister's house tomorrow. Most of the local family will be coming over for our Christmas celebration. It saves the kids having to travel all over God's muddy earth on Christmas Day and with all the blending of families and such, it makes sense.

Also, made latkes. I love potato pancakes so much I want to marry them and have their little kugel babies. *munches*

Dress shopping, cut for those uninterested in bridal squeeage )

My sister and I also took the opportunity to clean our bank accounts of extra money. She finished her Christmas shopping (mainly by finishing up her harassment of the SportMart salesmen by making her fourth trip to the golf department and demanding they give her the clubs she wanted for less than $200) and the two of us began a buying frenzy for our possibly-married (my SIL hasn't heard from Stevie as yet) niece. She needs everything, so we hit Target, Dollar General and Lazarus and bought her all manner of stuff. That girl is hooked up! The first thing she needs is a fire extinguisher and instructions to put out a grease fire, 'cause that girl can't cook. :D

Details are trickling in. Her husband is leaving for the Middle East (!) early in the New Year, thus their motivation for getting married - he wanted her to be taken care of. I hope that's it and not the pitter-patter of little feet. *grimace* But what's done is done and we're behind her 100% as always.

It's 2:50 am. It's gonna be a long day today. *snores*
